1. You should use a
licensed Roofing Contractor
We check each roofers license status and review the file annually for
complaints and/or suspensions. If a roofer offers you a discount to "Pull you
own permit" - this is a tell tale sign the roofer has no license or insurance
and perhaps has neither. Counties in Florida require State Licensed contractors
to have insurance on file in order to get a permit. Once the homeowner pulls
his/her own permit, you have relieved the roofer from all responsibility. If the
job does not pass inspection you will be held liable.
2. Proper Insurance is
critical.
As mentioned on our home page, some roofers have opted to purchase coverage
that does not cover "Open Roof" claims. Which means while they are working on
your roofer there is no coverage for any damages the occur due to weather
changes. Florida weather can change in a matter of hours. An exposed roof in a
rainstorm can cause massive interior damage to your home. We check each
insurance policy to make sure each roofer has included this coverage. We are
also notified if a roofers insurance is cancelled for non-payment of premium.
The fact someone shows you a certificate of insurance does not mean it is
current.
